Time to Meet the Scene!

Kew (Kew RSL)
11 May 2010

Get your Shimmy Shamming, your social dancing, and your feet a'prancing at the upcoming Meet the Scene Ball. It's always a fantastic night, from the free beginner lesson to the en masse group charleston, there will be something new to learn and many exciting things to see.

Kew has been allocated to wear the colour PURPLE, so whether you put a flower in your hair or a hanky in your pocket, or go the full kit and caboodle, we want to see some purple on you so we know where you're from!

SOCIAL DANCE!!!!

Listening to Music

Tips for hearing a beat:

  • Take the time to listen to music and find a beat before you start dancing
  • Counting in 8 helps you to stay on beat
  • Clapping the rhythm can help as well

Level 2/3 - 7.30pm

Fancy foot work variations

  • kick ball change - both lead and follow. Placement can vary (7,8 or 1, 2)
  • Lead layout variation holding follow out on 1, 2
  • Follow using above time and space to accentuate swivels, or do something fancy using the stretch and delay
  • Speedy feet variations (and 1, and 2) move forward and back, (R, L, R, L for follows)  heel heel, toe, toe, etc
  • Kick ball cross, scoot back, land variation for both on 7, 8, 1, 2
  • Tips: If you're going to do something different then make sure we see it. Put more umph or change up your look by using different levels to accentuate the variation.

Coming Up next week

Level 1 is going to learn the GROUP CHARLESTON in time for the ball, and Level 2/3's will be doing some more fancy footwork and super cool moves.

Remember, if it's cold outside, we'll guarantee to warm you up each week so keep a' comin!!!
