"Swing Set" Routine

Hi Everyone,

We've just started on a routine for the "Performance Ball" on Saturday Oct 30th. A routine is a great way to practice & everyone improves at such a rapid rate! It can also give you confidence for social dancing.
It's a really fun night for you to enjoy! Not everyone has to perform if that's not your thing but we'd love to still have you in class.

6:30pm Level 1 - Intro to LINDY HOP
Want to learn the Lindy Hop??
This class will be great for people who have never danced & for anyone wanting to move into Level 2.
This 5 week course will get you social dancing by the time the performance ball comes around!
Classes will still run as a regular drop in casual class yet material will progress each week.
Starting August 31st you’ll take your first steps to Swingin’ Out!!

We're really excited to be starting Thornbury's first routine! A fun routine that links together all the Rhythms that you learn in Level 1, like 20's, Side by Side, Tandem, Shag and more...
It's a 2.20mins routine to "Swing Set" by Jurassic 5 (bring a CD if you'd like a copy).

Routine So Far...
20's Charleston: face each other. Tap forward with right back with left.
Follows turn (push on beat 1)
Leads turn (starts on beat 5)

Side by Side: out side foot & inside foot (like a mirror)
offer front hand, stretch on 5 (hand on hip)
kick turn (hitch) kick
(face the back twice)

Side by Side:
Johnny Scoots - Rock step kick cross, scoot scoot (hold on 8)
Rock step kick land (in), tap (behind), step slide

Shag: hop hop, hop hop, run run.
4 basics turning clockwise
Send out - she goes, he goes (beer & six pack), both go, back to closed.

Tandem: Starts on left foot. Back forward, forward back.
360 turn = anti clock wise
Guys in front = clock wise turn down left side
Aeroplane = rock step kick (turn clockwise) land, big side kick turn kick land.

 Hack Saws x 3 - leads kick forward on right, follows kick back on left to start
Transition - turn anti-clockwise
Leads - rock step, single kick, single kick, single kick.
Follows - rock step, single kick, single kick, rock step.

Hand to hand - everyone right foot (double kicks) x3
Transition - follows move to closed.
Leads - swing (right foot), rock step, double kick (forward & back).
Follows - rock step, single kick, single kick.
