Shim Shamming & Shagging
Camberwell (The Palace Hotel)
01 Nov 2011
Hi Camberwell Students we bring to you for the month of November..........
“Shim Shamming & Shagging”
OOOh that sounds saucy!
Level 1 @ 6.30pm
We encourage all levels to join us and try the most popular jazz routine the “Shim Sham!”
The Shim Sham sessions will have you knowing all the groovy moves inside & out, stylising it for the performer in you.
What’s the Shim Sham?
A little History………….
A Swinging Stroll with cheeky moves like tacky Annie, shortie Georges & boogie backs
It is an original choreographed dance piece of the 1930’s & 40’s from the stages of vaudeville. Most of the dancers and performers of the time knew it and everyone from different club circuits could get together on a moment's notice and perform this "finale" without rehearsal.
7.30PM – SOCIAL DANCING TIME, PRACTICE, PLAY, WARM UP,
Level 2 – 8pm
Bringing to you for the first time this year at Camberwell, The “Collegiate Shag”
This is one of our favourite classic styles from the 30’s & 40’s. It’s fast, fun & easy for all levels!
What is Collegiate Shag? – A little history.
It is a fast form of 6 count swing, which was popular in the 30’s and 40’s. It is danced in closed and open positions, with infectious zany breakaway steps and is excellent for fast music and crowded floors.
9pm – More Social Dancing, Yeh!
