Thornbury (YDance)
08 Feb 2012

Welcome Everyone,

Join us at the fun & friendly venue. It's got a great atmosphere, a slick floor & heaps of room to dance.
Lets’ blast off to a great new year & get Thornbury really swinging! Bring your friends along & have a great time.
Our goal is to make classes super fun, informative & challenging with the main focus of social dancing.

THIS WEEK:
6:30pm Level 1 - Kickin' Sick Beat!

This easy & fun rhythm can be seen on the social dancing floor all around the world!
Originally developed in America, around the same time at Charelston & Lindy Hop in the 30s & 40s. Perfect for starting social dancing and very similar to jive & rock n roll.

7:30pm Level 2 - "Breakaway Charleston"
From 1919 to 1927, Breakaway was a popular swing dance developed from the Texas Tommy and Charleston in Harlem’s African American communities. The Breakaway was danced to trad jazz, and while it often began in closed position, the leader would occasionally swing the follower out into an open position, hence "Breaking away".
Breakaway inspired the Lindy Hop and is still a great dance to know & do fast!
