e. Launching TWO killer classes at Red Bennies!
Monday nights, 373 Chapel St South Yarra

Joel and Laura are very excited to announce that for the next 6 weeks, they are teaching an 8 beat lindy hop drop in course in Level 1, and launching an ALL NEW Level 2.5 class on Monday nights at Swing Patrol South Yarra!

7:00 Level 1pm – 8 beat lindy hop for beginners - no experience necessary!
For the next 6 weeks we will be learning the 8 beat lindy hop rhythm, which is the mainstay of the swing dances and some would say, the most fun! Mastering this rhythm is essential if you are seeking to get out on the social floor and start social dancing, or moving up a level. Each week we will go over the footwork and the basics, gradually building on our knowledge week by week. But don't worry, if you miss a class or drop in later in the course, you will be absolutely fine!

8:00 Level 2.5 – Introduction to lindy hop and blues
After much excited chatter, Joel and Laura are thrilled to bring you a level 2.5 class. For the next six weeks, we will be focusing on bringing the lindy hop and blues styles together, to give you an opportunity to explore how they can function together. Blues is a style of dance that we LOVE to dance and teach. It's very simple to learn as well, so if you are not familiar with it but are comfortable with the other swing dance styles, you should be able to pick this up as we go. This will be fun, challenging and hopefully open your swing world to a whole new way of seeing the dance.

f. Tuesday Nights @ Thornbury
Ydance, 909 High St

Mike & Noni are back! They’re really excited about Thornbury starting up again this year. Our goal is to make classes super fun, informative & challenging with the main focus of social dancing.

6:30pm Level 1 “Kickin’ Six Beat”
7:30pm Level 2 “Break Away Charleston”
From 1919 to 1927, Breakaway was a popular swing dance developed from the Texas Tommy and Charleston in Harlem’s African American communities. The Breakaway was danced to trad jazz, and while it often began in closed position, the leader would occasionally swing the follower out into an open position, hence "Breaking away".
Breakaway inspired the Lindy Hop and is still a great dance to know & do fast!
