Johnny Wharington

Johnny has been crazy about Swing dancing since 2003, and, if you ask anyone, is particularly obsessed with Balboa. He is eager to share with you the secrets of the dance and the joy it brings.

In 2007 he joined the Balpit teaching team, and has since taught numerous interstate workshops. His teaching style is creative, focusing on core skills and breaking through barriers to improvement.

Johnny has won or placed at many Balboa competitions around Australia, and loves dancing with newcomers as well as experts. He keeps the ideas flowing by working with his dance partners, daydreaming, and by learning from Balboa masters locally and in the USA.

For Johnny, what makes the dance exciting is the freedom of musical expression it affords.  He loves those moments of magic that happen when improvisations are conjured from thin air, and when he sees the dance performed with finesse and style.
