Mike Healy
Mike Healy fell for Swing Dancing in the summer of 2005. Since then, he now teaches, performs and competes in Lindy Hop as well as social dancing regularly around Melbourne’s Jazz venues.
Hailing from Melbourne, Mike is a social guy. He likes to make every dance fun, and he is always pushing himself to have good technique and partner connection. This is what he brings to his teaching.
Mike is enthusiastic about teaching lovers of dance and jazz, the fundamentals of swing dancing and its history. He is a great teacher. His paid job is a Primary School Teacher, so he knows how to communicate and make learning enjoyable. He’s won a bag of prizes, notably 1st place at the 2010 Australian Jitterbug Championships.
Mike performs regularly as a part of Melbourne’s Performance Troupe Harlem Shout and he is also a notable DJ. A collector of authentic Swing and Blues, Mike is known for his uplifting and entertaining sets. No doubt he is one of the best DJ’s Melbourne has to offer.
When not dancing or DJ-ing, Mike is an artist/illustrator under the moniker The Healy Press. He has a taste for curious and friendly vintage inspired animals living in vivid and colourful worlds. Basically, if it’s vintage, Mike’s into it. I think I sense a pattern here.
