Swing Patrol & COVID-19: November Update

by swingadmin on 15th November 2021

Good job with the jabs, Victorians! As the state is soon to reach that 90% double-vaccinated target, we plan to re-open Swing Patrol Melbourne CBD on Tuesday 30 November 2021. This will be our first class venue to resume, and will help us understand what “living with the virus” looks like, and what it means for group partner dancing. Prepare for things to be different, and for the need to quickly adapt to changing circumstances demanded by Covid Safety requirements.

In compliance with the directions of the Victorian Government, for the protection of our community and to adhere to the requirements of the venues we hire, all attendees at Swing Patrol classes and dance activities will need to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, or have an authorised medical exemption. This precaution will remain in place as long as the government mandate continues regarding the “vaccinated economy”.

CASHLESS payment only. Pay by credit/EFTPOS card at the door. Swing Patrol Class Discount Cards purchased prior to Covid shutdown are also valid. NO BOOKINGS required as we plan to operate on a drop-in basis. We will change partners throughout the class, though, of course, if you come with a partner and choose not to change, we’ll manage the class accordingly. CovidSafe measures remain in place: DO NOT come to class if you are unwell, if experiencing any Covid symptoms, if you are awaiting Covid test results, if you have been in contact with a positive Covid case or have recently been at an identified exposure site. QR code check-in is mandatory, and hand hygiene continues.

We will wait until early 2022 to resume in-person classes and dance activities at other Swing Patrol venues. Not only do we want to allow for maximum accessibility afforded by that 90% double vaccinated threshold (no DQs, no capacity limits, masks not required in most indoor settings) but we also need to understand what “living with the virus” looks like before we can confidently resume group partner dancing more broadly in our community again.

Announcements about our re-opening plans will be made here on the website, on the Swing Patrol Melbourne Facebook page, and in our eNewsletter.
